Greetings,

I posted on here before, I'm hoping someone can help me out..

I bought a Compaq 3000 DLT tape drive off of eBay. Works off SCSI so I
installed a Adaptec 2930CU card in my G4 apple (OS 10.3). Plugged in the
terminator and cable but I can't get the computer to "see" the tape drive.

My G4 computer info shows only the Adaptec card, but looks like nothing
attached. Tried DVDSP pro 2 which doesn't show a DLT tape, nor does the
Retrospect backup software..

So, for testing proposes, I borrowed a Adaptec 2940 for my PC, installed
that, same thing.. No drivers on Adaptec site for XP, but windows shows
the adaptec card as in and working correctly.. Again, no sign of a DLT
tape unit from the computers point of view. Am I missing something?

I'm kind of bummed because I thought that I could just get a DLT drive
place it on, and it would work.. There's very very slim documentation on
this on the web, and I'm starting to just get really depressed.

Wondering how everyone else is creating DLTs?

Thanks
-Richard

It should work fine. I take it the drive is LVD and not Differential? I
don't know if any Differential SCSI DLT drives are out there, but if
your unit was one it would explain why it won't work on your SCSI card.

Every single time I've plugged an LVD or SE DLT drive into a SCSI bus
(providing the SCSI ID has been set correctly and it's not colliding
with the SCSI ID of the interface card) it has 'just worked'.

Not much help, but some things to check I guess.
